Asahi Linux developer lead resigns due to burnout and disagreements with Linux maintainers
Use of Rust, troubles pushing changes upstream
Hector Martin announced that he resigns from leading Asahi Linux project. Asahi Linux allowed to run Linux platform on Apple Silicon Macs, providing support for Apple hardware, including GPU support.
Hector faced criticism from entitled users demanding more features and support. Personal struggles and the lack of appreciation from the community ultimately led to burnout and a reevaluation of the project’s future.
This does not mean Asahi Linux will stop developments, however, this might affect the pace and overall community support.
