iPadOS 26 brings changes to Stage Manager, Split View and Slide Over

It changes the way you can run multiple apps on iPad

Apple announced new ways of running multiple apps on iPad. iPadOS 26 also affects some existing approaches.

Prior to iPadOS 26 you could run two apps on screen with use of Split View (two apps persistently on screen) and Slide Over (edge swipe to reveal the app temporarily). These features won’t available anymore.

Stage Manager though is still supported. Users could opt into new multitasking experience, use Stage Manager or keep single fullscreen app. iPadOS 26 brings Stage Manager support to some older iPad models.
